FCC Releases
Draft Strategic Plan for 2009-2014 and
Asks for Public Comment

On June 24th, FCC released a draft of its 2009-2014 Strategic Plan and requested public comment. vox populi vox dei.

The PN asking for comment stated,
"The Federal Communications Commission announced today that the public is welcome to review and comment on a draft of its revised Strategic Plan for 2009-2014. The Commission is revising its Strategic Plan at this time in compliance with the requirements of the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993.

The revised draft Strategic Plan is a "work-in-progress" that is complete enough to allow review and comment on the strategic direction the Commission intends to follow in the coming years. Commenters are asked to focus specifically on:

1. The strategic direction proposed in the document as embodied in the general goals and objectives;

2. Providing additional contextual information not covered in the document's text; and

3. The means and strategies that the Commission should undertake to accomplish its goals."

In all honesty, FCC does not seem to slavishly follow this document and with the pending election it is hard to believe that the FCC post 1/20/09 will feel bound by it. Nevertheless, here is a good time for the public to comment on the overall direction of FCC and "light some candles" to help show the way.
